Went Bukit Timah Hill last sat to celebrate mothers' day. (my mother chose the location)
Anyway, she told us that it will only take 30min to climb up n down.
Indeed, the way up was easy cause it was just walking up the slope. My mum and my sis went the easier but longer route up the summit while my dad and I took the harder but shorter path. Reached the summit with only a few beads of sweat. No kick.
Then.. my mother suddenly suggested walking down with another route she has never tried before- the Rengas Route. Usually, my mum will just take the the same slope down again...but I think she wanted to show us more of the forest, seeing how we owned the hill with no trouble. Ok, so we took the path.
There were steep steps down and then it was the forest all around us. Forest and forest..more trees and more mud. It was endless but we kept our hopes high, thinking that we will eventually make our way out. But slowly, we were less optimistic.
It seemed that we are slowly going up the hill and not down. We were thinking that maybe this is one huge loop that brings us up to the summit again. And by that time, we were so deep into the forest that we just can't backtrack and return to the starting point. We have to proceed on.. and we ran out of water. and I started seeing ppl that I have previously seen on the summit. Creepy, like a Stephen King novel.
Finally, I found the map.
It was indeed a LOOP. and it was the biggest most challenging loop in BTH. The Dairy Farm Loop.
Yup, so in the end..instead of the promised 30mins, we took about 3 hours instead. When we cleared the last flight of steps and reached the road, it was such a mental salvation. We were so hungry and SO freaking thirsty.
Washed our shoes, said farewell to the monkeys and drove all the way to turf city. Ate lunch and my mom, being who she is...and we have guessed..wants to shop..at GIANT. She was very exhausted..walking last and everything during the mountain adventure..but when it comes to GIANT, she is one women that does know the word exhaustion.
It amuses both me and my sis greatly, seeing the refreshed look on my mother's face. she kept taking small loops here and there..she will be choosing the freshest papaya and then she will backtrack to the vegs sections for more offers and then back to the fruits again to meet my father. Then they will backtrack to the vegs section and so on. I think its lovely the way my parents shop together. :) My father loves to shop for drinks and fruits, while my mother love to shop for vegs and snacks. So now u see why my house it always stocked with foodstuff that is enough to last us for a mth. It is a product of love HAHA! Love from both of my parents to us and the love for shopping.
All in all, it was a nice journey we made. My brother wasn't with us because he has swimming training and life guarding to do.
